Hello & welcome! My name is Leigh Snaith-Brunton also known as The Sharpie Domino Queen & yes, that is a TARDIS in my bio photo ;0)
I'm a scifi, fantasy & supernatural fan that loves to read, watch movies, TV & listen to music when I'm not creating Art!
I'm a trained Fine Artist in painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking & photography. I'm also a certified Gare Ceramics instructor, Graphic Designer, Digital Artist, Jewelry Designer, Rubber Stamper as well as an Altered & Mixed Media Artist! I recently began doll customizating too & have a large collection of ball jointed dolls plus an adult collector of the original Monster High doll line. To me dolls are sculptures that move & customizing them & designing fabulous fashions for them is another wonderful artistic world to explore!
I was born in England & raised in South Africa where I painted ceramics under the brand Velvet Paw Ceramics, a name which reflects my deep love of animals, especially cats! I specialized in painting realistic & fantasy ceramic cats & more & sold my ceramics in stores, at cat shows & fairs. Velvet Paw Ceramics became Velvet Paw Creations when I discovered rubber stamping in 1995 & taught ceramic & rubber stamping classes until 1998 & now I create out of my studio in Southern California.
I accept commissions for one of a kind artwork. Send me an email via the Contact Me form with details on the kind of artwork you're interested in & we'll go from there. I look forward to hearing from you.
About my Stamp line
LeighSBDesigns Art Stamps is a unique & eclectic collection of whimsical & quirky designs based on my original drawings & photography & will constantly be morphing & expanding as inspiration takes me on my Creative Adventures. I see beauty in everything around me from cute kitties to creepy skulls & my collection of themes, styles & genres will appeal to everyone! My designs are currently available at my Etsy Boutique as instant downloadable digital images with rubber in the works so stay tuned!
In 2014 I became a licensed designer for Smeared Ink & designed the full sheet rubber stamp set called Autumn's Pencil that consists of autumn & Halloween tangle inspired designs. Smeared Ink are no longer in business but I'm thrilled to bring you my Autumn's Pencil designs as digi stamp, the rubber stamp set will be available again when I launch my rubber stamp line so be sure to follow me to stay up to date on my new releases & news!
I have been involved in the world of Rubber Stamping for well over 20 years now. My passion for art & stamping got me through the worst times in my life, first when I was diagnosed with breast cancer & then when we lost my precious Daddy to cancer too. Then later stamping & my involvement in the world of doll collecting, where I served as an admin on 2 popular doll Facebook groups, saw me through a 3 year long nightmare due to a breast cancer scare that resulted in surgical complications. I remained strong & positive throughout & I'm now a Breast Cancer survivor for 16 years, fit, happy & healthy & creating art to my hearts content!
In 2002 I discovered my passion for Altered Game Art & pioneered using Sharpie markers to create vibrant miniature works of art on dominoes & was given the nickname "The Sharpie Domino Queen" by members of my DominoART Yahoo group. My Yahoo group still exists to current members only & now all our activity takes place on my DominoART blog & Facebook group & you can follow what's happening on my DominoART Facebook Page too. Come & join the fun and discover the world of Altered Game Art!
